UPSC Civil Services Exam Pattern
The UPSC exam pattern consist of three stages which includes the Prelims exam, Mains Exam, and Interview. Each phase evaluates different skills, knowledge domains, and aptitudes, ensuring that candidates possess a well-rounded profile for effective public service.

Stage 1-PRELIMINARY EXAMINATION
UPSC Civil Services Examination shall comprise of two compulsory Papers of 200 marks each
Both the question papers will be of the objective type (multiple choice questions) and each will be of two hours duration.
The General Studies Paper-II of the Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination will be a qualifying paper with minimum qualifying marks fixed at 33%.
The question papers will be set both in Hindi and English.

All of the mains papers except for the language papers A and B are of a merit ranking nature. Paper A and B are of qualifying nature and candidates must score at least 25% in each for the marks from their Paper I – Paper VII to be given weightage.
Stage 3- INTERVIEW(Personality Test)
This is the final stage of the exam after which result will declare. The marks of interview are counted with mains exams for merit ranking. The interview is taken by the UPSC board. They assess the candidate’s suitability for a civil services and associated responsibilities. The board evaluate the candidates mental and social traits, their intellectual qualities, awareness about current events, balance of judgment, and moral integrity.

Stage-III: Personality Test-200 Marks
The personality test for Engineering Services is an interview which assesses the candidate’s suitability for a career in public service by a board of unbiased observers. The interview also assess social traits and interest in current affairs. Qualities judged include mental alertness, critical ability, clear and logical exposition, judgment, variety and depth of interests, social cohesion and leadership, and intellectual and moral integrity

Statistics I & II will be of Objective Type Questions (80 questions with maximum marks of 200 in each paper) to be attempted in 120 minutes.
Statistics III and IV will be of Descriptive Type having Short Answer/ Small Problems Questions (50%) and Long Answer and Comprehension problem questions (50%). At least one Short Answer and One Long Answer Question from each section is compulsory.
In Statistics-IV, equal number of questions i.e. 50% weightage from all the sub-sections below and candidates have to choose any two sub-sections and answer.
Stage II: Interview / Personality Test
Candidates who qualify the examination will be called for a personal interview. The total marks for Interview is 200. The interview assesses candidates’ subject knowledge, logical reasoning, leadership qualities and overall personality. Final selection is based on the combined marks of the written exam (1000 Marks) and the Interview (200 Marks).

Exam Pattern for SSC-CGL Exam
The SSC-CGL Exam held in two stages: Tier-1 and Tier-2. SSC-CGL Tier 1 Exam will be compulsory for all candidates. For the SSC-CGL Tier 2 Exam, there will be Paper 1, 2, and 3, whereas Paper I is Compulsory for all posts, Paper II is for candidates who apply for the posts of Junior Statistical Officer (JSO) in the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation and Paper III is for candidates who apply for the posts of Assistant Audit Officer/ Assistant Accounts Officer.
The candidates must note that the SSC-CGL Tier 1 is qualifying in nature and Tier 2 is scoring in nature. The marks scored in SSC-CGL Tier 2 will be considered for final selection for the various post announced through the SSC-CGL Exam.

The selection of candidates for SSC Stenographer Grade C and D posts involves two stages. Stage I is based on a computer-based test followed by Stage II a skill test.
